Welcome to the memorial page for

Alice M. Beck

November 24, 1943 ~ January 15, 2016 (age 72) 72 Years Old

Alice Maidment Beck, 72, of Safety Harbor, FL, died peacefully on January 15th at Suncoast Hospice after recurring battles with cancer. She was surrounded by family during her last few days on earth.

Alice was born in Scranton, PA and moved to Florham Park, NJ, as a young girl. After graduating from Hanover Park High School, she attended Upsala College and was an active member of Chi Delta sorority.  She graduated with a major in history and a minor in elementary education, and became a lifelong educator.

Alice married Robert Beck in 1964 and returned to her beloved Florham Park to raise her own family. They moved to Safety Harbor in 1992.

Alice had a deep and sincere belief in God which led her to dedicate her lifetime to caring for and nurturing others. She helped others as a CPR and first aid instructor, a member of the Florham Park Memorial First Aid Squad, and as a Stephen Minister. She nurtured minds of all ages through her work as a kindergarten teacher, den pack leader, nursery school coordinator, substitute teacher, and within her church as a deacon, women’s circle-leader, and a Sunday school coordinator/teacher. However, Alice always said that her most fulfilling and satisfying role was that of wife and mother. Her family thinks that she especially excelled at being a grandma to her eight grandchildren.

Alice will be remembered for her love of others and for her infectious smile which brought a light and happiness to all who knew and encountered her.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents Catherine (Logan) and Bertram W. Maidment, Sr.; and is survived by her loving husband of 52 years Robert Beck; her son David Beck, her daughters Karen (Stephen) Beck-Herzog, and Sandra (Brian) Hughes; and her eight beautiful grandchildren: Connor and Kaelin Beck, Zachary and Ashley Herzog, and Molly, Megan, Allison, and Sarah Hughes. She is also survived by her sister Norma (Marc) Bourdin and brother Bertram (Mary Jane) W. Maidment, Jr., as well as her nieces Catherine Sellers and Bevin Parker and her nephews Marc Bourdin and Bertram W. Maidment III.

A memorial service will be held at Northwood Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at 11 AM. Interment will be in Linden, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Suncoast Hospice Foundation (http://suncoasthospice.org/Home).,
