Flora Chambers

Flora Chambers, age 82 of Oldsmar, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016.  She was born to the late Jim Castellano and Rose Sciortino Castellano on November 13, 1933.

Flora was born and raised in Ybor City and graduated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help in 1952.  She married the love of her life, John Rex Chambers, in 1955.  They traveled the world together for over 20 years and returned to Tampa when John retired from the Air Force.  Together they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in November of 2015.

Family and friends were Flora’s passion and delight.  She was a stay at home mom to both her surviving children Rosemarie and John Chambers.  Later she went to work for AAFES retiring to take care of her two grandchildren Matthew and Jessica Chambers of whom she was so very proud of.

Christmas was her favorite time of the year and she made everyone’s holiday unforgettable.  She was an avid reader and loved a good mystery.

Flora is survived by her husband, children and grandchildren, daughter-in-law Janice Nix Chambers, her brother Philip Castellano and sister Dorian Castellano Hernandez and many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.  She joins her parents, step-mother Josephine LaRosa Castellano and step-sister Silvia Scaglione Alonso in heaven.

Flora did not want a funeral.  The family will host a celebration of life for family and friends in the near future.  The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her over the past few months.  Your love, support and caring meant the most during a difficult time.
