Reflection of the life of Luis A. Martinez
Luis A Martinez, “Senin” son of the late Arturo Roman Martinez and Alfrederina Medina, was born on 7/10/23 , in Isabella , Puerto Rico, and lived there with his nine brothers and three sisters .Luis completed his second grade education then began working at a very young age. In 1941 He set out for new beginnings and came to Bronx, New York to begin a new life where he lived with His Uncle, As He continued along his journey, as he says, He would tell the story. In 1947 he was walking down the street one day and saw this beautiful young lady sitting in a window and He had to know her.
He was united in Holy Matrimony on Oct 31, 1948 to Julia Lozada Martinez ,who The union was blessed with three daughters; , Migdalia Martinez, Nereida Klutman , and Luisa Vega. They were in union for 66 years of marriage until Julia Martinez went home to be with the Lord on June 2,2015 .
Luis Martinez, was employed in many Restaurants and Hospitals He worked at Latin Quarters and also the Museum of Modern Arts (MOMA) He was a hard working man until He became disabled due to a hip injury. Although limited in ability to work, he always provided for his family and His extended family and friends, He always managed to find a way and started his own piragua stand and still would just give it to all the kids and everyone on the block. He, as well as his wife, opened the doors of their home to family as they came from Puerto Rico to start their own journey , or others while they pursued their higher education and even friends in need. With very little he gave so much.
The family first resided on Fox street, then remained on Webster Ave in the Bronx after residing in New York for a little over 50 years Him and his wife relocated to Florida , with extended trips in between to live with his daughter in Las Vegas , Nevada and also in the Bronx, New York. His last two years of his life he resided at West Bay of Oldsmar , where in his years of wisdom , would still bring joy so many and uplift spirits with his singing and jokes and stories of his life . He managed to continue to give life to others, when He himself was weak and sometimes uncomfortable. His legacy will live on Forever and remain in the lives of all who knew him and were touched by his loving spirit. He quietly depart this life on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Florida Hospital of North Pinellas in Tarpon Springs, Florida
His Beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children Migdalia Martinez , Nereida , Klutman, and Luisa Vega ; Son in Laws Richard Klutman and Juan A Vega ; nine grandchildren ; three great grandchildren ; Sisters’ ; Rosalina, Alicia and Maria , as well as a host of devoted nieces , nephews , cousins , extended family and friends .
