Welcome to the memorial page for

Stephen S. Rinaberger

August 15, 1940 ~ February 24, 2017 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Stephen S  Rinaberger, Sr., 76, of Oldsmar, passed away Friday, February 24, 2017 under Hospice care at the Hospice House in Sun City Center.  Steve passed from end stage COPD and complications from pneumonia.  Steve was a proud father and a doting grandfather and he is survived by his children Steve, Jr., Scott, and Kristin, along with his daughter-in-law Sheila, son-in-law Donn, as well as his grandchildren Jennifer, Joshua, Abigail, and Georgia Ruth.  He endured a heartbreaking prior year and a half losing his 1st wife, Joan, mother to Steve, Jr. and Scott, in December 2015 and his current wife, Kathy, mother to Kristin, in January 2016.  Steve was proud to be from Iowa and enjoyed sharing stories of growing up with his brother there.  His children hope to travel back to Farmington, Iowa this year to visit the Bridge Café and see the races at the Lee County Racetrack in honor of him.  After college Steve moved to St. Louis where he spent most of his career as a banker at an executive level.  Steve, Kathy, and Kristin moved to Oldsmar, FL on New Year’s Eve 1990 following Kathy’s battle with breast cancer.  While in Oldsmar Steve made the most of living close to the water and found joy in trips to Clearwater Beach with his family.  Steve coached Kristin’s softball team in the Oldsmar Little League at R.E. Olds Park in the 1990’s and he made it a priority to play golf as much as possible.   Steve found comradery with the golfing buddies he made at Countryway Golf Course.  While Steve worked at Westfield Homes in Florida he was known as the Mayor because he knew everyone in the building and didn’t hesitate to initiate conversation with them.  Following the passing of his wife, Kathy, Steve moved in with his daughter and son-in-law in Lithia, FL leaving a piece of him behind with his friends and neighbors in Oldsmar.  He quickly became a fixture for the neighborhood in Fishhawk Ranch.  Neighbors loved saying good morning to him and the neighborhood kids brought him Christmas cards and made him breakfast on their way to school. Steve’s family and their accomplishments made his life full.  He will be missed by many, but he made the most of his time on earth and left behind some good lessons to savor and pass on. We've set the Celebration of Life to be Sunday, April 2, 2017 at the East Lake Woodlands Country Club from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. EST in the Windows on the Green Room.  It will be a reception style luncheon with some tributes and a lunch buffet will be served. If we can please put a request to RSVP to Kristin Ozkilkis at 727-656-7593.
