Bruce E Shugart

Bruce E. Shugart, 93, of Clearwater, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, on July 7, 2018. He was born in Woodbury, New Jersey to Vaughn Shugart and Gladys Edwards on October 2, 1924. Bruce graduated from Collingswood high school and went on to graduate from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business, with a degree in Economics.  Bruce served his country in World War II, with a Signal Corp detachment in support of the Army Air Corps operations in the North Africa and Mediterranean theatres, eventually making it into France, before getting his orders to return home near the War’s end.  After returning home and completing college, Bruce enjoyed a successful business career in credit management, employed first with Dunn & Bradstreet, but spending most of his career years and retiring with Johnson & Johnson in 1988.  Along the way, Bruce met Dolores (Toby), and they were married in May 1957 in Haddonfield, NJ, and settled in central New Jersey to start and raise their family.  After retirement, Bruce and Toby relocated to Safety Harbor, and enjoyed their new Florida home and newfound friends.  Bruce, (aka. Boo, Dad, Ol’ Did, Popeye, Grandpa) enjoyed playing Golf and Bowling, summer vacations in Ocean City, NJ with his family, and always crooning his favorite tunes to Toby, family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Toby; sons: Jeff Shugart and Brad (Sarah) Shugart; daughters: Jill Shugart and Brooke Grzywacz; and grandchildren: Chase Shugart, Cole Shugart, Amelia Shugart, Andrew Grzywacz, Kristen Grzywacz and Tom Grzywacz.

The memorial service will be held at the Regency Oaks Clearwater on July 23, 2018 at 1 PM in the Grand Lobby South.
