Edward F. Hennessy, 77, of Oldsmar, Florida passed away April 10, 2018. He was born February 10, 1941 in Cherry Valley, Massachusetts to John A. Hennessy and Frances Doran. Edward grew up in Massachusetts and at 20 years old enlisted into the United States Air Force, servicing for 4 years. After his service, he enrolled at Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York. In 1976 he met his future wife, Catherine Dalton. They were married in 1984 and 10 years later, made the move to Oldsmar, Florida. Edward was the founder of Hennessy’s Food & Spirits here in Oldsmar; running the establishment from 1989 to 2007. During his ownership, he created many wonderful memories within the community. He and a group of friends started the Hennessy Country Club. Membership included a club t-shirt, a weekly luncheon, and Friday nights at the Hennessy's Food & Spirits. When it came to sports, Edward was a true Boston fan, always rooting for the Boston Red Soxs and New England Patriots. He enjoyed cocktail hour and going to the local race track, Tampa Bay Downs. When he wasn’t at Hennessy's taking care of business, he enjoyed reading a good book.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Catherine Hennessy; brothers: Richard Hennessy, Dennis Hennessy, and Jimmy Hennessy; sister: Patty Vanasse; sister-in-law, Donna O’Flaherty; and cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, John A Hennessy and Frances Doran; brothers, Jack Hennessy and Donal Hennessy; and sisters Kathleen Soucie and Eileen Hennessy.
Edward will be deeply missed by his friends and family. His impact on the Oldsmar community will be cherished in the years to come.
