Eric Scott Platow, 54, of Tampa, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2018. He was born on June 9, 1964 to Robert Henry Platow and Helynn Claire Westphalen in Queens, New York. Eric grew up in Massapequa, New York. After high school, he continued his education and received his Bachelors degree at Adelphi University in Garden City and his Masters degree at Pace University in New York City. Eric was an avid music lover; he had a passion for guitar and songwriting. In 2000, he joined a band and met a woman who was a keyboardist and vocalist, named Rachel. They married in 2002 and share three wonderful boys, Matthew, Jonathan and Andrew. After a few moves here and there, the family officially planted roots in Tampa in 2016. Eric has loved being involved in his community; in one way as a worship leader at the Openwater Church in Odessa. He has an appreciation from snow skiing, scuba diving and most importantly, his beloved family. Eric will be missed by many, and will live on through the cherished memories his family holds dear.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rachel Platow; sons: Matthew, Jonathan and Andrew; mother, Helynn Platow; sister, Arlette Salinsky; and best friend, dog Frankie.
The Florida memorial service will be held Sunday, July 29th at 4 PM in the Calvary Chapel. Light refreshments will follow.
The New York service will be held Wednesday, August 22nd at 7 PM at Church Unleashed.
