James W. Yursik

James W. Yursik, 66, of Oldsmar, Florida, passed away March 7, 2019 after a valiant fight against cancer.  Jim, as he was called by those who knew him, married the only love of his life and true soulmate, Jeanne, in 1975 at the age of 22 after 6 years of courtship. Their exemplary marriage was defined by great love and mutual respect.  Over those 43 years of marriage, Jim and Jeanne lived in Cleveland, Detroit, Indiana, Cincinnati, Phoenix, suburban Chicago (Richton Park and New Lenox) and Oldsmar. Over that time, Jim became a father to their three beloved children. Together, Jim and Jeanne moved to Oldsmar in 2011. After working a distinguished career with Bridgestone/Firestone for 40 years, Jim achieved a lifelong dream and retired, spending nearly every moment with his dear Jeanne.  He used his newfound free time to travel across the United States and spend time with those he loved.  When not traveling, Jim entertained frequent visitors to his and Jeanne’s beautiful home in Oldsmar. His favorite pastimes included camping, visiting national parks, gardening, reading, listening to music and starting his days with sunrise walks in his neighborhood.  Ever the optimist, Jim unflinchingly tackled the many challenges presented by his sickness.  He passed away at home surrounded by those he loved most – his wife and children. Survived by his wife Jeanne E. Yursik, children: Stephen (Patrice) Yursik, Katrin (Rich) Easter, and Patrick (Megan) Yursik, grandchildren: Ruby Easter, Riley Easter, Evan Yursik and Ella Yursik, and eight siblings. James was dearly loved by his family, friends and co-workers; he left an indelible mark on the lives of those he touched. He will be greatly missed and will live on forever in the hearts of the loved ones he leaves behind.

A celebration of life will be held at Whiskey Joe's Tampa Bar & Grill on Wednesday, March 13 from 4pm-9pm.
