It was Sept 2nd 2015 when I first met Bud Walker. My dad, Bob McGinnis, had spoken quite a bit about Bud and his other pilot buddies before hand but I had never had the chance to meet many of them. My son had met Bud many times. My dad had been in Hospice for several days and I had been there by his side, watching him slip further away. He wouldn't go, even though our family had told him it was Ok. He was waiting on someone. Bud came in the morning of Sept 2nd. Bud was weak and sick himself. Supported by loved ones, he went to my father's side. My father had not been responding to anyone for days. Bud leaned over and spoke words only they could hear. I felt their spirits connect at that moment. My dad, "Flew West" as they called it. My dad, waited on one of his best friends to go. It was the most touching thing I had ever seen. I felt honored to be present with my dad at his passing. I was also honored to meet Bud as well. Bud will always have a special place in my heart. I know Bob and Bud are flying high right now. Rest in Peace Good Fellows!
