I worked for Guy at Bupers in Management Information Section from '72 to '75. The way I discovered this Obit is due to a candidate on the ballot here in Sacramento running for superintendent of public instruction. His name is Joseph Guy Campbell, no relation as far as I can tell. It was sad to learn of Guy's passing. I am proud to call him my friend.

Captain Campbell was my commanding officer on the USS Joseph Hewes FF1078. A very dedicated man. He will be missed all that served with him. Ricky Baur, SHCS/SW, US Navy Retired

Just learned of Guy's passing. Guy was a wonderful neighbor and friend for many years while I lived across the street from him in Trinity. Much sorrow felt for his passing. Condolences to his family.

Rest in peace Guy. You was a good executive officer aboard USS Exultant, even though there was times that we didn't see eye to eye. I remember you told me that I was the only one who ever ordered you to bed during your Navy career.

All this time Guy was but an hour or so drive from me. I lived for 15 years in Casselberry with sons in Orlando and Bradenton. Just last month while in Bradenton I went to Tropicana Park to see the Rays and the Red Sox. Guy and I started out in 1967, 289 '61 classmates. Eventually we went our separate ways. On the 15th anniversary of the class of '61 graduation Guy was at that reunion in New London. He had on his Navy uniform and we discussed his career to that point. It was only then that I realized he did not graduate with us. He was a real gentleman and wonderful friend. I also spent a time in country Vietnam. God bless Guy's family and God bless Guy. A slow and steady hand salute to a comrade in arms - - - ready two from a long time brother now located 5 degrees North in Digos City, Philippines.
