Rocco J. Campanile 90 years old August 31, 1932 – October 8, 2022
Beloved husband of 63 years of the late Rita McCafferty Campanile. Father of James (Janet), Michael (Kitty), Kathleen (Carmen) Parmer, Patricia (Dan) Phillips. Brother of the deceased members of his family, Phyllis (John) Tierney, Jean (Nick) Fanelli, Connie (Clyde) Horn, Rita (Peter) Carminati, John(Olga) Campanile, Josaphine (William) DiMatteo. Brother in Law of the late Charles (May) McCafferty, John (Rita) McCafferty, Catherine Carey, Anna McCafferty, Marie (James) Maines, Robert ( Jenny) McCafferty. Grandfather to 17 loving grandchildren and their significant others, 28 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Rocky was a graduate of Girard College in the late 40’s. He was very active in all sports and lettered in baseball, track and soccer. He made many friends and stayed in touch with them all thru the years, right up to the present.
Rocky served as a marine in the early 50’s. He has never forgotten his time in the marines and often drew on his experience and the character he learned in the marines. He has been a member of the marine lodge in Florida for years now and held many board positions. He recently was active in toys for tots for st Theresa’s parish along with other members of the marine lodge.
Rocco and Rita were originally from Havertown, Pa moved to Weeki Wachee, Florida. Prior to moving Rocky was a basketball coach at St Bernadette’s grammar school in Drexel Hill, Pa in the 60’s. `Then he coached basketball at Monsignor Bonner High School in the 70’s. In 1972 Rocky Founded C&M Sporting Goods along with his son James, and with a partner Orie Maiocco. He was extremely excited to see the business celebrate its 50th anniversary this past August.
Relatives and Friends are invited to his visitation in Florida at St Theresa’s Church at 1107 Commercial Way in Spring Hill Florida on October 13th from 10am until 10:45. His funeral Mass will follow at 11am.
Relatives and Friends in Pa. are invited to his visitation on Monday October 17th at the Stretch Funeral Home at 236 East Eagle Rd Havertown, Pa from 7 to 9 PM and on Tuesday October 18th from 9:30 to 10:45. His Funeral mass will follow in St Denis Church 2401 St Denis Lane Havertown Pa at 11 AM.
Internment will be private.
