With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Theresa "Terry" Hergula (83) of Tampa, Florida on February 25, 2026.
Terry was born in Brooklyn, New York and later raised her family on Long Island as a devoted and engaged mom of "all things" - PTA President; Girl Scout troop volunteer and High School Football booster. Her children were her world. She was a fierce and loyal mom who taught us strength and independence but loved us immensely.
Once her kids were mostly grown, Terry went back to college to fulfil her lifetime dream of becoming a nurse. She devoted over 30 years of her life to her nursing career, across many avenues. She started as an Emergency Room nurse and Hospital Administrator. She later found her true passion as a nursing educator and retired from her long-loved career while managing several Group Home programs for the disabled in Tarpon Springs.
Terry is predeceased by her mother Josephine Romano, sister Patricia Shane and son Anthony Guerino.
She is survived by her brother Frank Romano, daughter Debra Guerino and her beloved husband John Hergula of 42 years. Terry and John loved to travel and enjoyed many great adventures over their years together. One of her favorite trips being a tour of Egypt and a Nile cruise. Their mutual hobbies of music and collecting led them to discover thrift stores and antique shops for memorabilia and collectibles. Over the years they amassed quite a collection of comic books, records and depression glass they proudly displayed throughout their beautiful home on the water which she cherished and found much peace.
We miss her terribly here on Earth, but comfort knowing Heaven has gained a precious gem.
