Charles W. Shelby

C. William ("Bill") Shelby, 70, passed away in Oldsmar, Florida on August 12 from complications after suffering a stroke.  Bill, born and raised in Uniontown, also raised his family in Uniontown. Bill is survived by his wife of 49 years, Drinda (Dayton) Shelby. He is also survived by his daughter, Sherry Shelby Woolley of Lititz, Pennsylvania. Sherry and husband, Daniel C. Woolley, blessed Bill with five grandchildren (Andrew, Stephen, Jennifer, Matthew and David Woolley). Bill is also survived by his son, Joseph D ("Jody") Shelby, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Jody is the father of Bill's other three grandchildren (Caroline, Morgan and Jackson Shelby).  Bill was predeceased by his parents: Dr Joseph E. Shelby and Ruth Morgan Shelby; and by daughter-in-law C. Rebecca Shelby. 

Bill retired after a professional teaching career at local high schools. He was passionate about many things, especially basketball of which he was an avid fan and spectator, referee and coach.

Friends will be received at the Crawford Funeral Home in Hopwood, Pennsylvania on Wedesday, August 19 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. A funeral service will be conducted at Crawford Funeral Home on Thursday August 20 at 10:00am.

A private internment will be conducted at Sylvan Heights Cemetery Uniontown, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill's memory to the Uniontown Area YMCA.  Please make contributions to the Uniontown Area YMCA c/o One YMCA Drive, Uniontown, PA 15401.
