Alice Taylor Obituary

Alice Taub Taylor of Englewood, FL, a beloved wife, sister, mother and grandmother passed away on August 6, 2024, at the age of 70.

Born on March 4, 1954, to the late Marjorie and Alan Taub of Nutley, NJ, Alice spent the first decades of her life in New Jersey. She was a member of the class of 1972 at Nutley High School and received her undergraduate degree at Kean University. Alice raised her three children, Rachel, Adam and Noah, in Morris County, NJ where they made countless memories – and friends – spending their summer days at Deer Lake.

Alice was passionate about helping those in need, particularly children, leading to her pursuing her Master of Social Work from Marywood University. She was a dedicated educator for three decades until she retired as an administrator at Pinellas Gulf Coast Academy where she spent her own time and resources to support her students, including running an in-school food pantry from her office.

Alice moved to Florida in 2007 to be closer to her mother Marjorie and Rachel. A life-
long beach lover, Alice found great joy being near the water. She also found her beloved husband, John Taylor. She and John loved to attend concerts, cook and entertain friends, and simply enjoy quality time together and with their two dogs.
Beyond her professional and family life, Alice was an active member of her community, participating in civic and democratic organizations. In recent years, she made great memories traveling internationally with her friends, was an active participant in her book club and could often be found in her craft room.

Alice will be deeply missed by her family including her husband John of Englewood, FL; her children Rachel and Brendan Patrick of Safety Harbor, FL; Adam Skillin and Megan Summers of Freehold, NJ and Noah and Holly Skillin of Washington, DC; her grandchildren Cole and Ruby Patrick and Arlo and Cora Skillin; her sister Julie Maccarin of St. Petersburg, FL; her brother and sister-in-law Gary and Anne Taurick of Fall River, WI; her nieces and their families, and all those whose lives she touched with her kindness and selflessness.

The family will hold a small and private celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a children's charity of your choice.
