Caroline Beyer Obituary

Caroline Lore “Bonnie” Beyer passed away Thursday, August 11 in Clearwater, FL at the age of 95. She was born November 7, 1926, to Joseph Francis and Susan Davis Lore of Beaver, PA , and graduated from Beaver High School Class of ’44 and Lake Erie College. She was married to Sanford Frank Beyer June 11, 1949, until his passing in 2002, and lived more than 80 years as a resident of Beaver, raised their four children there, and, in later years, moved to Clearwater, FL.  She loved spending most summers of her life at her grandparents’ home in Sugar Grove, PA, gardening, entertaining visitors and attending the Presbyterian Church where 5 generations of family were baptized.

An advocate for her communities, Bonnie was a proud founding member of the Beaver Area Heritage Museum as Chairman of Acquisitions; served several terms as President of the Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle (CLSC), including the centennial class of 1982; spent many years as a Psychiatric Social Worker with the Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit, and involved herself with the First Presbyterian Church through their Hodge Band and as a Deacon. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Fort McIntosh Chapter, Beaver, PA, and Daughters of the American Colonists (DAC), Kanoagoa Chapter in Warren, PA.

Bonnie will be remembered as the “glue” that held together connections to family and friends. She kept in close contact with her “gang of 13” school friends from Beaver, and always remembered birthdays, holidays, and special events with a card, a note, or a telephone call. Her energy had her traveling to Taiwan three times in her late 70’s and early 80’s to teach English at the Tai-An Presbyterian Church in Taipei, to Holland with her daughter Carey to revisit places she had worked and toured during her college days, and driving up and down the East Coast of the United States to see friends and family.

Bonnie is survived and will be missed by her two sons and two daughters, their spouses and seven grandchildren. Her sons are Sanford F. Beyer II and his wife, Dorene M. Beyer, Treasure Island, FL and daughter Katherine and son-in-law Ben Shepard; Stuart F. and his wife Joressia A. Beyer, Powhatan, VA and their daughters Linda and Kyla. Her daughters are Caroline B. and husband Richard A. Austin of Dallas, TX and their daughter Meghan and son Andrew; and Elizabeth B. and husband Michael L. Dhondt of Tampa, FL, and their daughters Emily and Madeline.

Arrangements are through Holloway Funeral Home, Oldsmar, FL. A celebration of life for the family will be conducted at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the Sugar Grove Presbyterian Church Foundation, 202 Main St, Sugar Grove, PA 16350, or the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr, Tampa, FL 33607.
