Clearwater, Florida - David G. Troup, 99 passed away at 10:05 PM, August 4th in Clearwater, Florida. He was born June 25, 1923 in Winnipeg, Canada to Annie (Blades) and James Troup. David was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie, his parents and a son Larry Troup (Debra) of Goshen. He is survived by his daughters; Linda Ritchie and Julie Troup. He was a grandfather of 3 grandchildren; Lisa Troup, Laurie Komlanc (Jason), and David Troup. 5 great-grandchildren; Dylan and Tyler Lichkay - Savannah, Holden, and Hudson Komlanc and 2 great-great-grandchildren; Jackson and Bowe Lichkay.
David was a WWII Veteran who served in the Army Air Corps as a tail gunner aboard a B24 aircraft. The aircraft on a bombing mission, was shot down over the Netherlands and crash landed in a field. He and the crew were able to escape and were hidden from the Germans by the resistance. Eventually, he was captured and imprisoned as a POW at Stalag Luft IV in Germany until being liberated at the end of WWII.
Dave spent most of his life in Mishawaka, Indiana and ran a business servicing heating systems and doing sheet metal work. In addition he enjoyed buying and selling at Shipshewana, Indiana, dealing in old cars and vehicles, trips to Florida, and doing charitable work for many friends, especially Amish friends.
