Eugene R Murphy

Murphy, Eugene R. “Gene”, of Oldsmar, entered into rest, surrounded by his loving family on October 31, 2025, in Hudson, Florida. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, he grew up in Louisville, spending most of his adult life there, before moving to Florida, in 1983. 

Gene went on to serve his country, proudly, in the United States Air Force. After his service, he married the love of his life, Martha Jean, later raising their four loving children. Gene worked in the construction business in both Louisville and Florida.

He was an avid runner and cyclist. Gene enjoyed church outings with his friends and fellow parishioners at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. 

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Martha Jean. Eugene leaves behind his children, Patrick (Kaity) Murphy, of Louisville, KY, Maureen (Thomas) Murphy Brackett, of Hudson, FL, Douglas (Catrine) Murphy, of New Port Richey, FL, Steven (Renae) Murphy, of Youngstown, OH; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; many friends and extended family members to cherish his memory.

The Family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5pm until 7pm, at Holloway Funeral Home, Oldsmar, FL. A mass of Christian burial will take place at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church in Safety Harbor, FL. Graveside services with military honors will follow place at 1:30 p.m., Friday, November 14, 2025, at Florida National Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to HPH Hospice, in Gene's memory.
