Jack Banther Obituary

Jack L. Banther, 81, of Sun City Center, Florida, passed peacefully from this life on September 30, 2018.  This fun-loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend was born in Sullivan, Indiana.  He worked his first job alongside his father at Kraft foods in Summitville, Indiana.  He was a school bus driver for 21 years and retired from General Motors after 28 and one-half years.  He then followed his retirement dream to Florida.  Jack was a U.S. Army Veteran and claimed to "shoot" his fellow soldiers... as he was a U.S. Army photographer.  He was a longtime member of the Free Masons, Scottish Rite and Shriners.  He attended Purdue University, Ball State University and Anderson University.  Jack was an avid fisherman and over the years he enjoyed camping, boating, photography, jazz music and traveling.  He was the photographer for many weddings of family and friends.  He was known for his sense of humor and generous heart.  Jack was predeceased by his parents Cleo "Buster" and Lois Banther. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Phyllis M. Banther; his son Larry Banther of Indiana; his daughter Marla Chambers and her husband Gerald Chambers and his granddaughter Mackenzie Chambers of North Carolina.  He is also survived by his sister-in-law Pat Little of Sun City Center, Florida.  A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 3 pm at the Sun City Christian Center, 17566 U.S. 301 S., Wimauma, Florida 33598.
