Jay Lawrence Hoover

Jay Lawrence Hoover, beloved son, brother, and friend, tragically passed away on March 13, 2026. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores Hoover and is survived by his father Harold Hoover, his brother Mike Hoover and sister‑in‑law Dalila Hoover, his aunt Jeanne Shawhan, and many cousins, who each carries forward his memory with deep love.

Jay was dedicated to his community and his church, always ready to lend a hand whenever the opportunity arose. His generosity of spirit and steady willingness to serve made a lasting impact on everyone around him.

An avid lover of the outdoors, Jay embraced every chance to be in nature. He spent countless hours biking, camping, rock climbing, hiking, kayaking, and snowboarding —finding joy, challenge, and peace in the world’s wide-open spaces. His passion for adventure extended beyond the trails; he was an enthusiastic swing dancer who attended countless events both locally and across the country, forming friendships and memories wherever he went.

After retiring, Jay earned his glider license, fulfilling a lifelong dream of taking to the skies. He traveled throughout the United States in his camper van, exploring new landscapes and savoring the freedom of the open road.

Jay was known for his smile, his unwavering kindness, his boundless curiosity, and his remarkable ability to live fully and authentically. He will be remembered for the warmth he brought into every room, the kindness he showed without hesitation, and the fullness with which he embraced every chapter of his life. His absence leaves a deep void, but his spirit endures in the many lives he touched around him. He will be deeply missed.

A service will be held at Calvary Community Church of Tampa on Saturday, Aprill 11th, 2026 at11:00 AM. A private burial service will be held in Michigan. In lieu of flowers, donations shall be made to the Calvary Community Church of Tampa.
