Obituary

Jerome H. Walters July 11,1935 - March 6, 2023 87 Years Old Jerome (Jerry) Walters, 87 of Oldsmar, FL., Cleveland, OH., and Albuquerque NM was called home to heaven March 6th. Born in Cleveland he is a graduate of Glenville HS, attended Kent State University, was a veteran of the US Army, and a graduate of Cleveland Electrical JATC Apprenticeship Trade School with IBEW Local 38 where he worked for 31 years as an electrician. A great accomplishment was working overseas as an electrical superintendent in Ecuador and Saudi Arabia. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, of 57 years, three wonderful children: Elizabeth Ann Register, Jerome “Chris” Walters, and Darren Jon Walters, 15 grandchildren, 11 great grand children and 1 great, great grandchild, his half sister Gayle, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jerry was predeceased by his sister Constance, brother Howard, and parents Rose Wagner and Harry Walters, Jerry was very civic minded serving as councilman and vice-mayor in Oldsmar and on multiple boards. He was honored in 2007 with the Oldsmar Citizen of the Year. He volunteered as president of Oldsmar’s Friends of the Library for many years and as a driver for Care Lift at Mease Medical Center. He enjoyed being an umpire for little league baseball, playing golf, and bowling. Jerry was an active member of the Oldsmar Relay for Life Hearts of Hope team. Cruising became a passion as well as visits to Disney World along with many camping trips. Jerry never met a stranger, loved drawing, writing, listening to music, and the twinkle in his eye always preceded a little teasing. Jerry is a member of North Bay Community Church. He loved his church, brought several people into its membership, served as youth group advisor, participated in the Last Supper drama, started the Men’s Breakfast, golfed with the church league, and served on Maintenance Ministries. His Celebration of Life will be held at North Bay Community Church on Sunday, April 2nd at 3 PM.
