Joseph Irving Shore

Joseph Irving Shore, 70, of Safety Harbor, Florida, died June 4, 2021, at Mease Countryside Hospital. Joe is survived by Penny, his wife of 33 years.

Joe was born July 29, 1950, in Providence, RI, the son of the late Irving and Dorothy (Sliney) Shore.

He graduated from St. Raphael Academy in Pawtucket, RI and earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting at Bryant University in Smithfield, RI.

Joe worked in the grocery business for most of his life. He was the general manager at his family’s store, Shore’s Market in North Providence, RI where he met Penny. He later worked at Shore's Market in Cranston, RI and then Publix Supermarket after relocating to Safety Harbor, Florida. His fun and friendly nature was appreciated by all who knew him.

Joe was a faithful member of Northwood Presbyterian Church.

He loved spending time with his family, going out to dinner, and taking long drives to new places. He had fond memories of playing football for St. Ray’s and was proud to have earned his private pilot’s license. Flying with Penny to Nantucket or Martha’s Vineyard for lunch was one of their favorite things to do.

Joe is also survived by his daughter Aimee Akers-Shore McDermott, son-in-law Kerry McDermott, grandchildren Aidan, Aaron, and Kayla McDermott of Clearwater, FL, brother Donald Shore (Maria), sisters Nancy Walsh (William), Karen Shore, and Jayne Matoian (Mark), nephews Scott Shore, Robert Shore, and Ben Walsh, nieces Leah Brodeur, Hillary Lesperance, Michaela Durand, Meredith Fields, and Rhea Shore.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering on Saturday, June 12th at 11:00 am at Northwood Presbyterian Church located at 2875 FL 580, Clearwater, FL 33761.

A memorial service will take place in Rhode Island on a date to be announced.
