Joseph E. Zeigler passed away on December 26, 2020. He was 82 years old.
Joe was born September 28, 1938 in Charleston, West Virginia to Joseph E. Zeigler Sr. and Martha Jean (Cablish) Zeigler. He was the older brother to Rev. John Zeigler of Denton, Texas.
He was survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Mary Ellen Zeigler. He was the proud father of his children Alan Zeigler of Point Blank, Texas; Lori Robinson (Jon) of Kingwood, Texas; and Jennifer Fordham (Scott) of Southlake, Texas. He was the step-father of Karen Spangrud of San Antonio, Texas and Kimberly Byrne (Timothy) of Largo, Florida. He was predeceased by his eldest daughter Diana Swienteck (Russell). He was the grandfather of 18 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Joe graduated from Saint Alban’s High School in St Alban’s, West Virginia in 1956. He graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Chemical Engineering in 1961. He later completed a professional management development program at Harvard University Business School.
He served as Vice President of Worldwide Sales for a large California based engineering and construction firm, Parsons Corporation. He also served as President of three corporations in environmental and high tech process control and management. After retiring, Joe began a second career as a substitute teacher of higher level math, Chemistry and Sciences in Pasco and Pinellas Counties.
Joe enjoyed boating, crossword puzzles, and music. He participated regularly in the church choir as well as previously in the Clearwater Community Chorus and toured nationally and internationally with the Shephard Chorale. Most recently he sang with the Dunedin Community Chorus.
Joe was an active member of Northwood Presbyterian Church in Clearwater, Florida. He served as elder and participated in various committees. He was a member of the adult Sunday school class, Today’s Contemporary Christian Issues. He also played hand bells and sang in the church choir.
A memorial service will be held at Northwood Presbyterian Church at a date to be announced.
