Julie Coleman passed away on January 20,2020. She lived a well-fulfilled life and brought joy to everyone around her. Her occupation as a nurse for mentally ill patients and also the contribution she made towards Alzheimer’s research truly shows her caring and compassionate nature. She also worked for UMDNJ (The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey) before she chose to live a semi-retired life in Oldsmar, FL. Julie also earned her Master’s Degree in Nursing Education and taught at St. Petersburg college as a psych clinical instructor. Julie was very active in the community and also loved to volunteer. She spent her free time volunteering at Oldsmar Cares and at the Arc of Tampa Bay, serving the intellectually and developmentally challenged. For many years, she was a campaigner for Irish Justice and Freedom with Irish Northern Aid and an advocate for Native American charities. She enjoyed long walks with her dog Fiona and also enjoyed many outdoor activities such as hiking and camping. Julie also was an avid traveler and spent time with her husband, Gerry, and daughter, Kiera, visiting various places including Italy, the Galapagos Islands, Costa Rica, and Ireland. A Memorial Service will be held on January 24th from 2pm-6pm at the Holloway Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Eagles Golf Course in Odessa, FL on January 25th from 11am-1pm.
