Kenneth Lloyd Broome, 62, of Tampa passed away unexpectedly earlier this month. Captain Ken was born in Jacksonville (FL), his family moved to Tampa where he grew up with his 3 older brothers and attended Chamberlain High School. He worked at Pepsi for several years and then became a contractor taking his skills and knowledge to a variety of construction jobs. He obtained his Associates Degree attending night classes and excelled at numerous sales positions in the construction industry.
Captain Ken was never without a story and never met a stranger! He could fix anything, loved the challenge of designing construction projects for his friends and drafted a few plans on a cocktail napkin. Ken’s garage was always well stocked for any type of repair or project for his friends. He was passionate about boating and fishing, which lead him to obtain his US Coast Guard 100 Ton Master Captain license.
Captain Ken and Victoria were married 28 years and enjoyed times of laughter with family and friends. Highlighted were the years of University of Florida football seasons and traveling in their RV with the dogs. Kens dream was to live on the water and this came true in Bay Crest Park, where he volunteered for two terms as board president . Ken also loved to cook dinner and loved making gumbo to share with the neighbors
Captain Ken’s infectious laugh will be missed. Please honor his memory with a gesture of kindness, so his legacy of helping will live on.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Ken and Victoria’s home on June 2 (4:00-7:00pm), for those who wish to bid a farewell to Captain Ken.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Humane Society, Tampa Bay, in his honor. https://humanesocietytampa.org/
