Lee Mazzarini Obituary

Lee Charles Mazzarini, 73, of Palm Harbor, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2026, surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Janet Allen; his beloved son, Lee (Cassandra) Mazzarini; his sister, Christine Mazzarini; his brother, Paul (Susan) Mazzarini; his goddaughter, Angela (William) Bottorff; many other nieces and nephews; and his former spouse, Nancy Mazzarini.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Ellen Mazzarini; his twin brother, Louis (Karin) Mazzarini; his brother, Mark Mazzarini; his sister, Melinda Mazzarini; and his faithful Jack Russell companions, Mrs. McGillicuddy (Jesse) and Digit.

Lee lived his life by a simple philosophy: work hard and play hard. And he did plenty of both.

Proudly born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Lee graduated from Canevin High School before joining the United States Navy during the Vietnam era. He enlisted through the Buddy Program alongside his twin brother, Lou, and his lifelong friend, Jim Slusser, beginning an experience that would remain an important part of his life.

After his time in the Navy, Lee found his calling on the open road as a truck driver with Ryder Transportation. He loved being behind the wheel of his car hauler, where he was truly the “King of the Road.” It was more than a job to him. He took pride in working hard, and when the workweek was over, he was equally committed to enjoying life.

A true weekend warrior, Lee was known for his great sense of humor and for being the life of the party. He loved having a good time, making people laugh, and being surrounded by friends. Two of his favorite pastimes were playing golf with his longtime pal, Ron Shiwarski, and fishing either at Camp Coho in Erie, Pennsylvania, or off the Dunedin Causeway in Florida.

Lee also loved horse racing and cherished the time he spent at his parents’ farms over the years. He was someone who enjoyed being outdoors and keeping busy, including yard work, something he took great pride in and genuinely loved doing.

In the early 2000s, Lee moved to Florida and began a new chapter in his life. There, he met his longtime companion, Janet, whom he loved dearly. Together, they shared many wonderful years filled with companionship, laughter, and cherished memories, along with their beloved cats, Fireball, Little Bit and Ellie Rose, who brought them both so much joy.

Those who knew Lee will remember a hardworking man who knew how to enjoy life, a loyal friend, a proud Navy veteran and father, and someone who could always bring laughter into a room. He did things his way and made sure to have a good time along the way.

Lee will be deeply missed, but the stories, laughter, friendships, and memories he leaves behind will live on in everyone who had the good fortune to know him.

Work hard. Play hard. And enjoy the ride.
