Moon, Leonard J. Jr, 83 of Oldsmar, Florida passed away Thursday June 13, 2024, at Mease Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor, Florida following a lengthy illness. He was born in Carbondale, PA to the parents of Leonard and Mildred (Westington) Moon. He moved to Middletown, NJ at a young age and attended school there through high school. Leonard obtained the rank of eagle scout for the boy scouts of America. In 1960 he enlisted in the Air Force and served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After the military, Leonard joined the Middletown Township Police force and retired in 1990 as a detective. Leonard was very active in his community of Middletown, where he served on the board of education and served a term as president for the board of education. Leonard was very philanthropic and served the community through Middletown Helps its own, was the voice of the fair for the Community Fire Co annual fair, & President of The Murphy’s association. When Leonard retired, he moved to Florida and settled in Oldsmar. During his retirement he enjoyed gardening and taking care of his lawn. Leonard also like to fix and tinker with things to pass the time away. He is survived by his wife Miriam, two children: Scott (Jenny) Moon and Stacy (Christopher) Kelly, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be Sunday, June 16, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Holloway Funeral Home with visitation one hour before.
