Lesa Wright

Wright, Lesa 67 died Saturday 02/18/2023 at Moffitt Cancer Center hospital with her husband and mother with her in her final hours.

Lesa was a graduate of USF, HCC & Leto HS. She was smart, organized, friendly and fun. In her 10 years of treatment for blood cancer she was always one of the doctors’ and nurses’ favorites.

Lesa worked in the grocery business in many roles thru her schooling, graduating to the data processing side of retail. A friend helped her get a higher paying job with a British firm doing similar work for a broader base of clients in the U.S. While she made friends everywhere she went, she really wanted to settle down in her home town of Tampa.

She loved fitness and became a yoga and Pilates instructor. She was an avid bicyclist and until 2 years ago rode most weekends on various paved trails around Florida with her husband. Ultimately, it was her love of plants that held the key for her later life’s joy and work.

When she needed a more stable work, she looked to the nursery business. With no formal training, she took photos of her beautiful gardens and plantings and went to Green Thumb Nursery, a family-owned nursery nearby. She took her resume and photos and landed the job she loved for the next 15 years.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years Ed Crawford, and her mother Ola “Babe” Wright, the rocks of her life. Her step-dad Robert L. “Bob” Wright whom she loved as her father, predeceased her.

Lesa loved pets and is survived by Sasha (dog) and Quinn (cat) and two garage rescue cats, TK and Romey. And others too numerous to mention.

Lesa wanted to specially thank the doctors and nurses at Moffitt for the years that they have worked to keep her going and ultimately tried to save her. The list is long but Dr. Javier Pinilla and his staff, Lisa Nodzen, APRN, Dr. Michael Jain, stem cell transplant specialist, and so many others.

A Celebration of life will be held Friday March 17th at 2:00 PM at Holloway Funeral Home in Oldsmar
