Ronald Towner Obituary

Ronald John Towner, 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by his children at his home in Oldsmar, Florida the morning of November 23rd, 2020. He was a widower to the love of his life, Linda Towner. They shared 55 wonderful years of marriage.
Ronald was born on July 8th, 1944 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Lynn and Herbert Towner. He married Linda on September 28th, 1963. They moved to Oldsmar, Florida in the summer of 1970 and raised 6 children.
Ronald worked various trades over the years such as truck mechanic, Canada Dry sales rep, and home repairman, before settling into the position of custodial worker for the Pinellas County Schoolboard. He retired from the Pinellas County Schoolboard in 2010.
Ronald enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. In his younger days, he enjoyed mentoring children as a Boy Scout leader for many years. When not fishing, he would spend time scouring the beaches near his home for seashells with his children and grandchildren for his collection. After retirement, he enjoyed watching the birds in his front yard, chasing the squirrels away, and growing plants of all kinds.
Ronald will be remembered for his many fishing hauls, witty demeanor in conversations, and long-winded story-telling. All of his close family members and friends will miss him dearly.
Ronald was survived by his 6 children, Michael Towner, Carrie Towner, Bettylynn Trahan, Julie Contakos, Naomijean Carter, and Danielle Stermen, 10 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his 2 brothers and 3 sisters and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Linda Towner and his eldest brother Vernon Towner.
