Velma Sivik Obituary

            Velma Jean Arthurs Sivik passed away peacefully at her home in Oldsmar, FL surrounded by family on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at the age of 81.

            Born March 13, 1939 in Gracemont, OK to Tom and Jimmie Arthurs, Jean was raised in Pauls Valley, OK and graduated from Pauls Valley Sr. High School on May 24, 1957.  Jean went on to join the United States Marine Corps in August 1957 and proudly served as a sergeant until November 1963.

            Jean met her husband, Richard Sivik at the Marine Corp Air Station in Beaufort, SC in June 1962 and married September 22, 1962 after only 90 days of dating.  Together they raised three children and settled in Oldsmar, FL in 1980.  Jean had a love of reading and fishing and went as often as she could.

            Jean is survived by her husband, Richard Sivik; daughter, Diane Grabowski and fiancè Jeff of Lakeland, FL; daughter, Danette Loyd and husband Robert of Newberry, FL; son, David Sivik and wife Sherri of Tarpon Springs, FL; 9 grandchildren, Sean, Michael, Ashley, Matthew, Megan, Aaron, Melanie, Jessica and Joseph; 3 great grandchildren, Aubree, Kynsingten and Baby Miller; sisters, Norma Norris and Anna Atwater both of Oklahoma.

            Jean was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Shirley Barnett, Tommie Powell and Patsy Lou Arthurs.

            Services are scheduled for Friday, June 26, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., St. Petersburg, FL 33708.  In lieu of flowers, we request donations in our mother’s name be made to the Suncoast Hospice Foundation, https://suncoasthospicefoundation.org/donations/.
