Anthony John Rubino

Anthony John Rubino, 86, of Dunedin Florida passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016, at a Nursing home near Dunedin Florida.
Born October 8th, 1929, in Greensburg, Pa. he was adopted by the late Anthony “Tony” Rubino Sr. and Josephine (Sgarlata) Rubino. His parents were Fred Rubino Sr. and Teresa Elizabeth (Parachino). He is survived by five children, Anthony J. Rubino III, Deborah L. Guzzo (Don), Dr. Jeffrey J. Rubino, D.D.S. (Terrie), Karen A Bradshaw (Bill) and Mary K. Huff; one brother Fred Rubino (Gail Sister-in-law) who lives in Latrobe PA. also predeceased by one son James F. Rubino.

Anthony has 10 grandchildren.

Anthony’s early years were engaged in the produce distribution business his father Tony Rubino Sr. had started. He joined the business in 1950 in Greensburg Pa, from there in 1962 Tony moved to Paw Paw, West Virginia to become sales manager for Consolidated Distributors, which handled the fruit marketing for consolidated Orchards & Romney Orchards. In 1968 Tony joined Blue Goose Growers as sales manager and in 1972 became division manager in Hagerstown MD. In 1979 Tony was elected president of Blue Goose Inc. a nation-wide marketing service organization.  

Anthony was president of the Maryland State Horticultural Society and served as executive director of the Maryland State Apple Commission. He was also second VP of the National; Peach Council.

He was also involved in local activities including being a member of the Hagerstown Chamber of Commerce, Executive Committee of the Mason-Dixon Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Knights of Columbus, United Commercial Travelers, and the Elks-BPOE#378 of Hagerstown, MD.

Anthony moved to Dunedin Florida to enjoy the beautiful sunshine state for retirement.  He loved the water and good food and friends.

There will be no funeral services as his wishes were cremation and a family only gathering up north. He wishes also, in lieu of flowers, contribute to your favorite charity in his name.  He will be taken to Hagerstown Maryland and buried at a later date.
