We just learned of Wayne's passing from a former neighbor of George & Betty Ahrens in Clearwater. George and Betty treasured their friendship with your family, and my husband Alan and I were fortunate to meet you as well a number of years ago.
We've shared the news with Alan's sisters, who have asked to be remembered as well. We all send our condolences.

We express our sincere sympathy for the lost of Uncle Wayne. I remember him as a very engaging Uncle. Remember well when Kent stayed with us on the farm. Always enjoyed seeing the family over the years. May you feel the strength of God's hand uplifting the family in this difficult time. We keep the family in our prayers.

Dear Shirley and family,
I was saddened to learn of Wayne's passing. All of you have my sympathy. I remember Wayne as a young man in his office at Sioux Implement on Main Street in Sioux Center. He always had time to visit with me when I stopped by to collect the $.20 cent fee for the Des Moines Sunday Register. He was always friendly, kind and thoughtful. I also remember being inspired by his picture in the trophy case in the Sioux Center gym. He was one of the first all-state basketball players for Sioux Center, and I wanted to be a good enough player in high school to have my picture near his. I saw that picture again this past January when our 1967 team had a reunion. He was a very good man, and I'm glad I knew him.
