Marjorie Fairley Obituary

Marjorie Scott Fairley, 91, passed away January 3, 2020. A family move from her birthplace in Whitinsville MA, took her to Elizabethton TN where she spent her childhood. Marjorie enjoyed her career as a Registered Dietitian, graduating from James Madison College. After her internship and beginning career in Johnson City TN, she took advantage of a career advance to Biloxi MS. This move she prayed earnestly about, resulted in her meeting the love of her life on a blind date set up by their respective best friends. Lynn, home from Chicago for Christmas with his burgeoning CPA career, also knew she was the one; they married 6 months later. Lynn’s career took them to Dallas TX as they also welcomed the birth of both children, then New Orleans LA, Miami FL, Tallahassee FL, Southern Pines NC, and Tampa FL.  Marjorie provided a loving and Christian centered home for her family. She worked part time as opportunities arose, as a Consulting Dietitian and taught Food and Nutrition at Tallahassee Community College. Back to work full time as her children were older, at hospitals in Tampa and Brooksville. She also enjoyed volunteering and tutored children in schools for reading skills. Very involved  in her church, she was President of the United Methodist Women, active in Stephens Ministry, teaching Sunday School, assisting her husband  with his work in Cairos Prison Ministries, special church dinners, and many other opportunities to further His word. They enjoyed travel and visiting their son, Scott, with his career as a Civil Engineer that took him from one interesting project to another. Daughter, Jayne, considered the blessing of living nearby and having the best friend relationship mothers and daughters share. Her grandchildren were also her favorite priority, during summertimes with ‘Camp Grandma’ they ‘helped’ at many church bazaars and dinners and came home with skills they lacked before, creating their own patterns for needlepoint and hook rugs. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Inman Fairley, son, Scott Ellis Fairley, brother, Donald Scott, mother, Jane Magill Dundas Scott, father, John Scott Jr. She is survived by daughter and son in law, Jayne Leslie and John Theodore Policandriotes, grandchildren, John Scott and Jared Theodore Policandriotes, brother, John Scott lll.
